Hello from work

I am at work and again not wanting to be here. I have been a bad blogger. Sorry Angie. The days I work, after the hockey and other activities the kids have in the evening, by the time I get home for the night, all I can do is veg. Connor has his team party this Sunday, so I thought what a great idea it would be to put together a dvd of the year of hockey. I had lots of pictures, imagine that, and I bought a camcorder when we were in Hlfx on March break, so I had some video from our tournament. So, the biggest hurdle was just learning how to use the program that came with the camcorder. It took me almost and hour to figure out how to import the song from Queen - we are the champions from Limewire. Anyway, on Tues night I worked on it for about 4 hours, it was so great, I was just adding the coaches names to the end and I had a "#$^^%^%" program error and lost the whole dam thing. It was almost midnight and I just about cried. So I went to bed and worked on it on Wed and redid it. But it is so awesome ( I think) I hope the kids like it. I burned a copy for all the team.
Sarah won an award at the regional science fair. For her project, she swab the debit machines in the stores in the mall and I grew the bacteria at work and took pictures of the plates for her. The bacteria growth was gross and our advice to everyone is carry hand sanitizer with you and use it often.
Last night my sister moved in (somewhat) to her house in Coldbrook. Mike will be living there now but Annie and the kids will move in on Apr 20 when the house closes in HLFX. So we went over to help. It will be so great having one of my sisters close again. My phone bill will be so happy, it's not long distance. Tracey, if you are reading, it would be sooooo great to have you guys closer some time soon.
Speaking of my sister Tracey, in BC, a good friend of hers, just lost her husband. He was in his 40's I believe, had an infection in his heart, had to have surgery and died from complications. It was quite a shock, They have three boys, the oldest is around 12. I guess we just need to remember to be thankful for each and every day with the people we care about, because life changes in an instant.
Thinking I better get to work, I do have some scrapping things I have done that I want to post pictures of. I'll try and do that on Mon when I am off.

Thrilling weekend of hockey!

What a weekend of hockey!!!! We were at the Mainland AAA Atom tournament in Chester. Connor's team won the whole thing. It was soooo exciting. We played Fri night and lost, the boys played terrible and Acadia played incredible. So we were all pretty down after that game. But we had lots of fun at the hotel in the evening. We stayed at the Oak Island. The kids played tennis and mini golf all evening because it was so warm out. My kids did not want to swim in the pool or hot tub because the water was green and you could not see the bottom. (maybe I made them a little bacteria paranoid) The parents stayed up too late again. We won both games on Sat and finished 4th overall, which meant we had to play the 1st team on Sun morning, Chester. The referee did everything he could to make sure we did not win. Including giving one of our players a 4 min penalty in overtime but after we killed that penalty he came out of the box and scored the winning goal. The kids (and parents) freaked. Connor and his cousin Tyler were hugging each other on the ice. It was so cute. Then we had to play Pictou, who was #1 in the regular season in the final. We beat them 4-3 in overtime again. It was so cool to see how excited the boys were and I was so happy for Connor to get to experience the whole being a part of a team. Dance was never like this, that's for sure. So today, I am trying to get the laundry caught up again, (does that ever really happen) I am still tired. Two late nights are too much. I am going to stamp club tonight for the first time and can't wait to see what Jill has come up with for us. I know it will be gorgeous. Yah, and Connor is so getting a haircut very soon!

Insane week!

This week has been so busy. Yah, I know it's not an excuse but it's what I am using for not posting. I was tired to begin with from my great weekend at Paulette's cottage. With RIA, Jill, Gail and Pat. We made some really cool things which I will post pictures of later. Then I worked, we also just bought more milk quota for the farm. Which means tons of paperwork for the farm loan board and very stressful on the head. Just keep thinking about how much we are in debt. The figure would stagger most people. Getting ready today to go to Chester for a hockey tournament. You know, you get all caught up on the laundry to pack so that we can come home with suitcases full of dirty cloths. Trying to make some food to have in the room to try and cut down on the cost. The kids and I are going tonight and staying at the Oak Island Inn, Jeff is coming tomorrow and staying till Sun. Had parent teacher with Sarah's teacher this week. She is doing really well, her average was 89.4, in late immersion and her teacher said the two things she would like to see her improve on are not wearing her coat in class and not chewing gum. Which I agree with if that is the rules, but really if that's the only problems she has in her classroom, how would this teacher cope with a class with real behavior problems??? Give me a break. Of course as she is telling me this, I am chewing gum, so of course I swallow it. Anyway, that is a little update especially for you Angie and Tracey who both gave me a hard time about not posting.
Ria check out: http://www.autumnleaves.com/lookBlog/ remember we were so excited to realize you can use brads for embellishments as well.

Goodbye March Break!

March break is over and I have tomorrow off. Thank you!!! Sarah and Connor are hoping for a storm day. I told them they would be going to school no matter what! We did had a great week. It's the first time I have had the entire week off with the kids. Connor had some hockey last weekend, Annie and her kids came from Halifax till Wed. The kids and I went to the city on Wed. Had a great time shopping and hanging out, stayed at Annie's. Spent way too much money shopping but since Annie is moving back to the valley in April I figure we won't get up there very often. I went to a friends cottage for Fri and Sat night scrap booking. But it seemed like we spent more time eating and laughing. There were six of us, and we had so much fun. Did the hot tub Sat night, it was wonderful. Made some great projects, got some pages done in my Italy album. That thing will be the end of me. How do you sort thru 500'sh pictures??? Came home this afternoon, so tired and too full! The picture are from a hockey weekend in Moncton a few weeks back. Notice how rugged Tyler and Connor are, don't they look like AAA hockey players. Our room had a jacuzzi in it so Sarah, Connor and Erica tried it out.

Heading to the city

The kids and I are heading to Halifax till Fri morning. Going to stay at Annie's (my sister) We all have a little money in our wallets and it's burning a hole. I want to go to the freaky lunch box with them. Think we might go to a movie tonight. Just have a little fun. No hockey till Monday, really feels like a vacation now.

March Break....gotta love it!

So March break is in full swing. Annie and her family are down from Hlfx. Today we are going to watch Cole in the skill competition for hockey in G'wood. The the Morse's are taking on the MacKinnon's at the bowling alley. Connor has hockey practice at 330 and then supper at mom's. Wanted to go coasting but Mike broke his arm coasting when he was a kid and still has issues with it. So we'll go tomorrow when he is working.
Just wondering if any of the locals here would know where I could buy a 2 packs of those really big decks of cards that the almost blind people use???? Thanks, I have a project in mind for them.

Donna Downey copied me!

So I already had my acrylic stamps on transpencies and in an altered binder. The only diff is she made her book from cardboard and I used a binder. So I guess I do have a good idea once in a while. Here is my version.
Sarah and Connor got their report cards yesterday. I knew they would be good because we are sooo lucky that they are both great students. But it is still nice to see the praise in print and to hear how they are aprreciated by their teachers. One time the kids asked me what they got for grading. One of their friends was getting a bike I think. I told them it was their job to do well in school and to pass. That they should be more worried about what they would get if they didn't grade. What a mean mother eh! We just usually have a celebration meal out for good marks. Gotta get back to the paperwork for the farm.

They came, they destroyed, they rebuilt, they went home!

The "clean sweep" ladies were here. Jill and Myleta are so fun but man can they make a mess. I thought I had things looking pretty good for them but they ripped apart everything. They had issues with my chipboard drawer. The word "obsessive" I think was mentioned as well as "illness". I'm thinking what's the problem, you need several sets of chipboard alphabets cause you never know which style will suit your mood. Right? But when someone else is looking at your stuff, it does make you realize that sometimes you keep too much and maybe I do have a "collection addiction" Had a great time with them, my room is so clean, although I have no idea where anything is and it seems like I own nothing now. So I may have to go to 2MF today and "get stocked up" again. JK girls. Thank you Jill and Myleta. Maybe now I will feel more like using all that stuff I have.

Storm Day!

Well another storm day in the valley. I was lazy and did not get out of bed until 8am. Since I was up at 530 the last four mornings for work, sleeping in felt really good. Sarah babysat for David today (2 cousins, boys)) and they and Connor and the Rafuse kids spent most of the day at the beef barn in the hayloft working on their fort. They made it out of hay bales and apparently have "the most awesome fort ever" according to Connor. Hockey practice in Digby was cancelled tonight. Thankfully, I was not looking forward to that drive. Sarah was supposed to have grade 8 graduation pictures taken today. Now she is in a panic because I have to work tomorrow and who will help her with her hair??? I said get up at 6 and I will help you. You can imagine the look I got. But, she has decided that is her only option so she does not look "stupid" for her photos. I'm not really sure what "stupid" looks like but to a 13 year old girl I do remember it is tragic. Not that moving to grade 9 is not a big deal, but I'm sure the pictures we had done at the beginning of the school year would suffice??? And in case you were wondering, she did not look "stupid" in that one. Tomorrow night Jill and Myleta are coming over to "clean sweep" and reorganize my scrap space. Should be alot of fun. Time to make supper. Keep warm tonight everyone.
