Bad Blogger!

Okay, so I have turned into one of those blog people I hate. The one's who never post. Not because life is that much busier, just have not sat down to do it. I am cleaning, purging trying to sort thru all this stuff in my office/scrap room. I don't know what to do with all this stuff!!!!!!!! What do people do with all their magazines and books???? Where do I put all these beautiful scrapbooks I have made. I am looking at 8 12x12 albums that weigh a ton. I'm looking around my room and I think I need to go up with storage. Wondering if I should have some cupboards built. Hoping they could be finished tomorrow. Of course Jeff will have a "cow" when I tell him about wanting cupboards because that would mean putting holes in the walls. And he hates to do that. Myleta and Jill are coming over next week (Jill any night but Tues) to help organize. Any suggestions.

Rodeo Roundup!

A big day on the farm today. The feeder calves are finally sold. Which means the calves from last year are going to a feed lot in PEI to be fed by someone else until they are ready for beef. Which also means we will get some money! Super important. The kids had a half day today and of course Connor asked if he could stay home to help. Which came as no surprise because he is so into the beef cattle. They had to load about 15 at a time from the beef barn into a stock trailer and haul them over to the Church parking lot and load them onto a two level tractor trailer. Sound impressive? Well I went to watch today for the first time and I was impressed. These little calves......who each weigh around 700 lbs, and there was 55 of them to move don't just walk up and get into the trailer. Jeff's Dad and Uncle came to help run the calves in. Connor's job is to stand behind the cement wall and reach over and keep the trailer door open. Some things are better if a mother does not see. The first load went well until they went to leave to get the next load and one of the calves got out of the tractor trailer and took off down the road, heading for home. So Jeff ran after it to make sure it kept going in the right direction. Now, my dear hubby is cute and all but not in the shape he used to be and let me tell you when we got the calf back to the beef barn, Jeff was in a sweat. It was neat to see and we are happy they are gone. Jeff and Connor went to Truro to help the calves get weighed and hopefully will come home with a cheque. Later

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning!

Just trying to clean my office/scraproom today. Kind of looks like everything threw up in here. Last night I cleaned the shelves in my bedroom and you can't imagine the junk I had there. It looks sooo much better. Less is definitely more. Did anyone watch Oprah the other day when that cutie pie Nate was on? He redid a really small apartment. And they showed really small houses. They were right, how much room do we really need and how much stuff do we really need. So I de-cluttered my room last night. Now it's my office. Patty, I will show you two photos of my room right now, cause it is so messy then I will post photos after I clean it. Myleta and Jill said they would come over and reorganize for me. TTFN

Tough loss for Valley AAA Spratans

What a tough weekend for hockey. Connor's team had their second round of the playoffs. Chester is a really strong team. We beat them once this year and they had beaten us 3 times. Last night we played in Kingston and they won in overtime 2-1. It was such a great game. We really outplayed them for most of the game but they got an ugly flukey goal to win. We had to go there today, and I think the ref was some one's Uncle cause he did not call anything on them. I think his name was "Uncle Homey" Now I know when you lose a game you always blame the ref's. But I'm telling you, the ref was terrible. But they also outplayed us and we lost. Connor played the best games this weekend he has played all season, and got lots of ice time. The reason the pictures are so blurry is because I was shaking the entire game.

Now, Angie don't feel bad about stamp camp, cause I didn't get invited either. (although, I was at hockey) The weather man is calling for snow overnight and tomorrow, luckily I know school will not be cancelled because in Kings County they only cancel school on nice days not stormy ones. So I might get some scapping done tomorrow. I want to make a birthday card for Shane.

Okay, so I've been getting a little flack about not posting since Wed. Well I have been working, this was my three day week. Long! I now have 13 days off and I am so excited about that. I'm sure the weather will clear up since I won't have to drive to work. Had a terrible drive last night to Bridgetown for hockey practice. The whole way there I'm wondering what am I doing driving on these roads for a stinking hockey practice. Not anything exciting to say, hope to get some scrapping done this week and get my book club projects done cause that was one of my resolutions. Keep warm !

Valentine's Surprise,

Look what Jeff had delivered to the lab today for me. We had our traditional family candlelight Valentine's supper. With wine glasses of course. We have been doing that since the kids were little and they still love it.

Feeling 40!
Yesterday, I chapereoned Sarah's school trip to Martock. I love skiing and this is such a fun time and an easy day to chaperone. When I was filling out the form to rent the equipment, you have to put your age, height and weight. Okay, so we all know we hate to put the weight thing down, you kind of want to lie.... but since they are adjusting your ski binding to the weight you put down, not really a smart idea to lie. But this was the first time I had to put "40" down as the age and I really did not like that. So, had a great day skiing. But I wiped out once and slid down the hill a ways, ended up with snow down my pants. Not a nice feeling. Any way, this morning I am feeling 40. My back and shoulders are sore. But Sarah and I had a great day and the pain is worth it. Last night as I was tucking her in she thanked me for coming and always being there on her trips. That meant alot. I guess I better get back to work.

Well another weekend is almost over. As you can see, on Friday we were coasting, finally. The kids here have it pretty rough. They go down the hill on their GT's and get pulled back up with the snowmobiles. They think they have it rough because we only pull them up every third or fourth time. I'm keep reminding them that we never had the luxury of being pulled up the hill. Connor told me "but that was the olden days" Does being 40 really make me "the olden days"?
Connor's hockey team had their first weekend of playoffs. We had to win 2/3 against Acadia, who have always beaten us in the last 4 years to get to the next round of playoffs. The boys played great and we won in two games. I was so nervous yesterday, I could have thrown up at any given time during the game. I wonder if that's how the NHL mom's feel? Cause we were so excited you would have thought it was the NHL. I really do try to not be on of those "hockey parents" but it is hard not getting into the game. I have to keep telling myself they are only 10 years old. When that cute #10 with the red helmet and big brown eyes skates by and gives me that smile... I love it! Now that's hockey!

Here I am at work, supposed to be working. I will later. Maybe. Just a little update on Dianne. Her name is Abbie Daisy, she was 1/2 pound. Dianne is doing as well as can be expected. She is a strong woman and her two girls will help get her through. The kids and I are thinking we will start a memory garden in the spring. For Abbie, lots of daisies I think. I guess we have to take these moments as reminders to always take the time and be thankful and appreciative of all we have in our lives.

Today my sister-in-law Dianne, who live is Port Hardy BC is in Vancouver having to deliver her 23 week baby, because there is something wrong with the lungs and chest cavity. The baby will not survive outside the womb. My thoughts and prayers are with her, Scott and their two little girls Kaylie and Maddie. She will need incredible strength. She is one of the most amazing people I know and it's really hard to understand why this is happening. I guess the bigger plan is really bigger than all of us. So if you have a few minutes, just think of her.

How cute is he!

So I figured out how to add some things to my blog. Thanks Angie for the counter. (if the counter does not go up, I will have to keep checking out my blog myself)

Had to work today, which means getting up at 5am to leave shortly after 6 when the roads are bad. It took almost an hour to get to Kentville. And it was freaking cold out!!! Kids were a little bummed out that they had school. Thankfully Connor's hockey practice in Digby tonight was cancelled. And believe me hockey does not get cancelled easily.

Well, I am going to go crawl in my polar fleece sheets with a new Nora Roberts book (pure trash) and get comfy.

Survived Hockey trip to Moncton!

Just got back from Moncton, Connors' team had three games. We left Fri afternoon and just got home. I am so tired. The boys had a 9pm curfew, but the parents did not and I am too old to be up drinking till 1 in the morning. Gotta go unpack and then to bed. I'll have to post something exciting tomorrow. And please let there be school tomorrow.

Here's a photo of what's going on, on the farm these days. Babies everywhere.
